KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police on Wednesday identified the man who died from injuries suffered in a vehicle-pedestrian crash Dec. 5 on Ane Keohokalole Highway in Kailua-Kona.

He was identified as 70-year-old Peter Finnegan of Kailua-Kona, according to the Hawaii Police Department.

The crash was reported at 6:13 p.m. Dec. 5 at the highway’s intersection with Manawalea Street. Police say a southbound 2007 Toyota pickup truck collided with Finnegan, who was walking within the southbound lane of the highway. Finnegan suffered critical injuries from the collision and was later pronounced dead at Kona Community Hospital.

The operator of the Toyota pickup, a 36-year-old Kailua-Kona man was not injured and was later released pending further investigation.
