New Kona Starbucks announced

Starbucks is opening another location in West Hawaii.

Dubbed Starbucks Honokohau at Boat Park Road on local signage advertising the Jan. 18 grand opening, the physical address of the new coffee shop is 74-5035 Queen Kaahumanu Highway in Kailua-Kona.

The new storefront will be the fifth Starbucks in the greater Kailua-Kona area. Including the stand-alone stores on Henry Street and Kuakini Highway, there are also locations inside Safeway and Target.

Water company donates playground

Hawaii Volcanic Water, founded by longtime Kauai residents Jason and Channon Donovan, built a new playground at the Anaina Hou Community Park in Kilauea, Kauai.

The playground is constructed almost entirely from recycled plastic and locally sourced non-toxic natural building materials.

It takes people through the creation and history of the Hawaiian Islands. In the center of the playground, there’s an impressive erupting volcano climbing structure. Next, explorers can imagine navigating the Pacific Ocean with the stars as their guide like the original. Polynesian settlers did on a double-hulled Hawaiian ocean sailing canoe. Then, there’s an extensive multi-level ahupuaa (mountain-to-ocean land area) themed structure ready for adventure. There are also sugarcane era trains, and many other fun surprises in store for young and old alike to discover together.

Hawaii Volcanic Water is a premium drinking water brand from Hawaii. The source of the water is located at the companies bottling plant, deep within an abundant artesian aquifer on the slopes of Mauna Loa volcano on Hawaii Island.
