‘The Villainess’ to be remade for American television

South Korea’s action-packed film of 2018, “The Villainess” directed by Jung Byung-gil and starring Kim Ok-vin, will be adapted and remade into a television series by Skybound Entertainment for the U.S. market.

Robert Kirkman, creator of “The Walking Dead,” is expected to produce the remake. “The Villainess” grossed an estimated $8.8 million in South Korea and premiered at the 70th Cannes Film Festival in May of 2017 to a standing ovation. “The Villainess” was pre-sold to 115 countries by its distributor, Next Entertainment World. The film is about a female assassin trained from childhood promised freedom from her agency after 10 years of service, but that changes quickly when mysterious men enter her life to unfold her past and revenge ensues.

In Joon’s father threatens Soo Hyun’s father for stabbing him in the back. In Joon comes clean, confronting his feelings for He Ra. Sunday, 7:45 p.m.: He Ra tells Tae Oh to move on to destroying Soo Hyun. He Ra suggests using Jenny to get to Soo Hyun, if they must. In Joon puts everything on the table for He Ra. Soo Hyun proceeds with the wedding plans. Soo Hyun’s motherly instinct kicks in when she finds out her mother’s despicable plan.

Monday, 7:45 p.m.: Bok Su is confused what Soo Jeong’s true feelings for him are. Soo Jeong defends Bok Su even though her full-time teaching position is at stake. Bok Su burns with jealousy and anger when he finds out Se Ho’s true feelings for Soo Jeong. Tuesday, 7:45 p.m.: Bok Su and Soo Jeong are engulfed in guilt over the misunderstanding from nine years ago. Soo Jeong gets her $50,000 back from Kim Myung Ho. Se Ho asks Soo Jeong out on a date, confessing his feelings for her.

The Last Empress

Wednesday, 7:45 p.m.: Lee Hyuk is dumbfounded after seeing Sunny head over heels for Wang Shik. Sunny finds herself in a secret hideaway while in search of the late Empress So Hyun’s diary. Thursday, 7:45 p.m: Lee Hyuk playfully approaches Sunny, asking her to spend time together instead of doing her show. The Empress Dowager is weary knowing Sunny’s persistent investigation into Grandma’s murder case. Wang Shik starts to move in on Lee Hyuk, trying to locate his mother’s corpse.
