Road, sign work to close Kekaha Kai park
KAILUA-KONA — The Mahaiula section of Kekaha Kai State Park will be closed Feb.11-13, with re-opening scheduled for Feb. 14.
During the park closure the installation and painting of speed humps will be done. New signage will also be placed in various sections of the entry road.
The project is part of the improvements to the Mahaiula entry road which began in 2017. The contractor is Isemoto Contracting Co., Ltd. at a total project cost of $408, 844.
Relay theme is Under the Sea
KAILUA-KONA — The votes have been tallied and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life has its theme: Under the Sea, Turning the Tides Against Cancer.
The fundraiser will run from 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Aug. 17 at Hale Halawai.

Judicial Council seeks applicants
HONOLULU – The Judicial Council is seeking applicants to fill one upcoming vacancy on the Hawaii State Ethics Commission. The term will run from July 1 through June 30, 2023.
Members of the commission serve on a voluntary basis. Travel expenses incurred by neighbor island commissioners to attend meetings on Oahu will be reimbursed.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, residents of the State of Hawaii, and may not hold any other public office.
The Ethics Commission addresses ethical issues involving legislators, registered lobbyists, and state employees (with the exception of judges, who are governed by the Commission on Judicial Conduct). The five commission members are responsible for investigating complaints, providing advisory opinions, and enforcing decisions issued by the commission. The Hawaii State Constitution prohibits members of the State Ethics Commission from taking an active part in political management or political campaigns.
The Judicial Council nominates two individuals for each vacancy on the Commission. The nominees’ names are sent to the Governor, who selects one of the nominees for appointment.
The Judicial Council is also seeking applicants to fill two upcoming vacancies on the State of Hawaii Campaign Spending Commission. The terms will run from July 1 through June 30, 2023.
Members of the Commission serve on a voluntary basis for a four-year term and may be reappointed for a second four-year term. Reasonable expenses incurred in the discharge of their duties, including travel expenses, shall be reimbursed.
The five members of the State of Hawaii Campaign Spending Commission are responsible for maintaining the integrity and transparency of the campaign finance process by enforcing the law, educating the public, administering public financing, and training campaign committees in order to encourage compliance.
