HONOLULU — Honolulu’s rail agency says U.S. investigators are demanding to see documents related to a 20-mile rail line under construction on Oahu, including contracts and list of contractors.
The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation said in a statement Thursday it received a federal subpoena this week. The agency didn’t identify what federal department the subpoena is from.
The agency says the documents requested largely duplicate those the agency recently provided to the state auditor.
Other documents include contractor change orders, archaeological studies and correspondence with the Federal Transit Administration.
The agency is pledging its full cooperation in complying with the subpoena. It says its staff and contractors will continue to work toward completing the project and having it ready for limited passenger service next year.
