Mary Lindsey

Mary Ann Puailiau Bell Lindsey, 94, of Waimea, died Feb. 2, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Nov. 6, 1924, in Waimea, she was a former telephone operator at Pearl Harbor and the Hawaiian Telephone Co. in Waimea; janitorial maintenance worker of the U.S. Postal Service and Waimea Medical Center; retired school bus driver for Ryusaki Corporation; and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Waimea 1st Ward.

Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. Feb. 23 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Waimea; funeral service at 11:30; burial to follow at the Lindsey Family Plot. Casual attire.

She is survived by daughters, Laranette (Joseph) Kuahine of Oahu and Leatrice Lindsey of Hilo; sons, Lambert (Debbie) Lindsey of Minnesota, Charlie (Erin) Lindsey of Waimea and Fred (Amber) Lindsey, Jr. of Washington; brothers, David (Gwen) Bell Jr. of Oahu, and Robert (Leslie) Bell, Samuel Bell and Autry (Holly) Bell, all of Waimea; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marjorie Kaaumoana

Marjorie Elaine Kaaumoana, 80, of Hilo, died Feb. 11, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 23, 1938, in Hilo, she was an employee of the Volcano House, Naniloa Hotel and former Orchid Isle Hotel in Hilo.

Visitation will be held 5-6 p.m. Feb. 20 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo; wake service will begin at 6. Visitation will continue 9-11 a.m. Feb. 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; funeral Mass will begin at 10. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo. Casual attire is requested.

She is survived by sisters, Lynette Rodrigues of Hilo and Theola Kuamoo of Mililani; numerous nephews and nieces.

Marcy Unilongo

Marcy P. Unilongo, 63, of Hilo, died Jan. 17, 2019, at Kaiser Moanalua Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Tamboli, Allacapan, Cagayan, Philippines, she was the owner of Marcy’s Variety Store and member of New Hope-Hilo.

Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. Feb. 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; wake service at 7. Visitation continues 9-10 a.m. Feb. 19 at the chapel; funeral service at 10. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire.

Dolores Ramos

Dolores Serrao Ramos, 88, of Paauilo Mauka, died Feb. 9, 2019, at her residence. Born in Hilo, she was a retired Postmaster at the Honokaa Post Office, cattle rancher, member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Honokaa Ward, Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, Hamakua Traffic and Safety Committee, Paauilo Mauka Kalopa Community Association past president, North Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union board member and Family History Center director and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints .

Visitation will be held 8:30-9:45 a.m. Feb. 16 at the Honokaa Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; memorial service at 10. Aloha attire.

She is survived by daughter, Pamela (David Hipp) Ramos of Waimea; grandchildren, Malia Wilson of Hackensack, N.J., Kaikala (Shea) Wilson of Paauilo Mauka; sisters, Idamae (Ray) Chavez of Kohala, Iwalani Levei of Utah; numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Kekela Sr.

Kenneth Kalaulu Kekela Sr., 87, of Hilo, died Feb. 3, 2019, at Legacy of Hilo. Born May 24, 1931, in Hilo, he was a retired welder for the former Hilo Iron Works and member of the Immaculate of Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.

Friends may call 9-11 a.m. Feb. 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; funeral service at 11. Casual attire. Cremation to follow.

Earl Kunitake

Earl Yoshito Kunitake, 71, of Holualoa, died Jan. 29, 2019, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born Jan. 8, 1948, in North Kona, he was a coffee farmer, cook at King Kamehameha Hotel and a U.S. Army veteran.

A celebration of life will be held at 9 a.m. Feb. 20 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire.

Phillip Espaniola Sr.

Phillip Lopez Espaniola Sr., 80, of Hilo, died Jan. 30, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 7, 1938, in Hilo, he worked for Moses Co. of Hilo, was a truck driver for Libby McNeil and Libby Pineapple Industry of Maunaloa Molokai and HT&T Trucking Co; and member of the Hawaii Army National Guard 299th Infantry.

Takako Miyada, 89, of Hilo died Jan. 18, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired sales clerk for Macy’s, formerly employed at Shiigi Drugs and the former Kurohara’s.

Yukimi Nham

Yukimi O. Nham, 95, of Hilo died Jan. 18, 2019, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired data processor for the former C. Brewer &Co. and member of the Hilo United Methodist Church and its Peanut Butter Ministry.

Addie Sarah Miday, 75, Pahoa, died Jan. 25, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired paramedic assistant at Hilo Medical Center.

Trinidad Altura

Trinidad Yadao Altura, 91, of Honokaa, died Jan. 9, 2019, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a retired housekeeper for the former Sheraton Royal Waikoloa Hotel and member of Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. Feb. 16 at the Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 10 a.m., followed by burial at the Honokaa Catholic Cemetery. Casual attire, no flowers.

She is survived by sons, Reynaldo (Amanda) Altura of California and Ronald Altura of Honokaa; brother, Bonifacio (Corazon) Yadao of Maui; sisters, Catalina Apostol and Irene (Ernesto) Fulgencion of the Philippines; five grandchildren, one great grandson; nieces and nephews.

Mayliko Nishimoto Carter, 52, of Hilo, died Feb. 6, 2019, in Hawaii. She was born in Yomitan Village, Okinawa, Japan.

Jane Sachiko Oshita, 95, of Kohala, died Jan. 29, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice. Born in Japan, she was a retired manager at Kohala Federal Credit Union and member of Kohala Jodo Mission and Kohala Senior Citizens.

Anne Elizabeth Kekaula, 73, of Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 29, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born May 25, 1945, in Twin Falls, Idaho, she was the owner of Sam’s Hideaway.
