Free cataract surgery today and March 11

The Hawaiian Eye Foundation (HEF) and local ophthalmologists are donating their time, services and supplies to conduct free cataract surgeries for underprivileged communities, giving eye care to those who would otherwise be unable to obtain such services.

Cataract Days is part of HEF’s mission to change lives by promoting the preservation, restoration and improvement of vision throughout the pacific basin and beyond through charitable service, education and research programs.

This event is especially for those who do not have medical insurance. HEF also accepts those who meet other eligibility requirements, including a household income of less than 200 percent of the poverty level. This year’s volunteer surgical team is led by HEF BOD Dr. Alan Faulkner of Aloha Laser Vision.

Cataract Days is funded by the Atherton Family Foundation and the Friends of Hawaii Charities.
