Ramona Pacheco

Ramona Santiago Pacheco, 86, of Hilo, died Feb. 23, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 14, 1932, in Kohala, she was a retired licensed practical nurse for the former Hilo Hospital also known as Hilo Medical Center and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call 8-10 a.m. March 19 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, celebration of Mass at 10 a.m. Aloha attire and flowers are welcome. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park (Lehua Section).

She is survived by sons, Stanley (Nora Usita) Pacheco Jr. and Rodney Pacheco of Hilo; daughters, Pearl (James) Park and Patricia (Dwayne Yoshina) Nakamoto of Hilo sister, Christina Texeira of Sacramento, California; two brothers-in-law; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ethel Viveiros

Ethel “Babes” “Tita” Kaonohiokala Viveiros, 87 of Hilo, died Feb. 19, 2019, in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired PBX operator at the former Naniloa Hotel in Hilo. She was a member of the Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha and a member of the Hawaii County Nutrition Program, Aunty’s Sally Luau Hale.

Friends may call 5-6 p.m. March 16 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6 p.m. celebration of life. Casual attire, lei are welcomed.

She is survived by daughter, Laurie Gay N. Machida of Hilo; son, Nathan Kalani (Bernice “Anna”) Moniz Viveiros, Sr. of Hawaiian Beaches; sister, Margaret Kapualaniokina Kauwale of Oahu; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernadette Konanui

Bernadette Marie Konanui, 83, of Hilo, died Jan. 21, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Kalihi, Oahu, and was a professional musician and entertainer.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. March 16 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel. Funeral service will at 11 a.m., followed by burial at the Alae Cemetery. Casual attire.

Survived by her sons, Joseph Kailikini of Hilo, Christopher (Kim) Gomes of Washington, Frederick Konanui, Jr. of Oahu and Henry “Puka” (Kainani) Bell of Hilo; daughters, Ettatani Kailikini of Maui, Theresa (Curtis) Gomes of Hilo and Bernadette “Missy” Konanui of Kona; brother, Francis Naope, Sr. of Hilo; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Merina Engino

Merina Mokur Engino, 63, of Keaau, died Feb. 27, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. She was born on May 20, 1955 in Chuuk, Micronesia. She was a former housekeeper for the Hilton Waikoloa Village and member of Christ Church.

A funeral service will be held at noon March 16 at the Community of Christ, 1842 Kinoole Street, Hilo. A graveside committal service will be held at 1 p.m. March 17 at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire.

She is survived by daughters, Devorcina Engilo of Hilo and Merie Engilo of Hilo; three sisters; three brothers; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patricia Wilson-Rice

Patricia Leilani Wilson-Rice, 79, of Pahoa, died March 7, 2019, in Pahoa. Born in August of 1939, she drove for the Hele On and Laupahoehoe Transportation buses and managed Akita Enterprises.

Survived by daughter, Wanda M. Hashimoto of Aiea; three sons, Eric J. (Antoinette) Wilson of Pahoa, Kaikaikaokamakanao kealoha L. (Andrea) Wilson of Hilo, and Thomas H. (Gayle) Wilson Jr. of Las Vegas; sister, Celestine Barnes of Hilo; 20 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and 40 great-grandchildren.

Margaret Fukuchi

Margaret Fraser Fukuchi, 88, of Hilo, died Dec. 3, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Highland Park, Ill., she was a retired office clerk with the State of Hawaii, Department of Human Services and a member of the Hawaii Government Employees Association (HGEA).

Survived by husband, Frederick G. Fukuchi of Hilo; daughter, Cathy Ann Thunell of Hilo; son, Robert G. (Shelly) Thunell of California; stepsons, Ken (Bellie) Fukuchi of California, Brad (Mary Grace) Fukuchi and Dean (Rika) Fukuchi of Hilo; stepdaughter, Gwen (Howard) Hose of Hilo; six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren; nieces and nephews.
