KAILUA-KONA — The Kona Community Hospital is in line for a makeover to the tune of $2.4 million.

According to a press release from the Hawaii state Senate, Gov. David Ige on Thursday released the monies in construction funds for renovations at KCH.

The hospital will use the funding to enhance operating rooms as well as improve heating, air conditioning and ventilation, the release continued.

“These investments will make it that much easier for the hospital and its staff to make vital contributions to our community,” Sen. Dru Mamo Kanuha, whose district includes the medical facility, said in the release. “I look forward to continuing to work with the Governor in advocating for the hospital and our community’s needs going forward.”

Ige also recognized Kanuha’s efforts.

“Projects such as these are critical components of the public infrastructure and contribute to building a better home for our kupuna, keiki, and the residents of Hawaii,” Ige wrote in a letter announcing the release of the funds.
