Death at homeless shelter ruled to be from natural causes, police say

KAILUA-KONA — Authorities have ruled that a man found dead at the homeless shelter on Pawai Place was by natural causes.

Hawaii Police Department initially were made aware of the death Monday evening. Detective Reed Mahuna stated officers received a call at about 11:30 p.m. regarded a deceased person.

When they arrived on scene, they found a 58-year-old man with no obvious injuries.

On Tuesday, Mahuna stated the pathologist completed the autopsy and ruled the death due to natural causes.
