Hazel Kaolulo

Hazel Harriet “Snookie” Kaolulo, 73, of Hilo, died June 15, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. She was born May 21, 1946, in Honolulu.

Friends may call 9 a.m., Aug. 24, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary for visitation; service at 10.

She is survived by son, Martin (Janis) Kaolulo; daughters, Catherine (Junior) Amisone, Bernice (Iona) Paga, Cresencia (German) Iese; former spouse and children’s father, Martin L. Kaolulo; brothers, Veu Eugene Tupuola, Anthony Sepulona Tupuola; sisters, Eleanor Leipaoa Pacheco, Babette Tutasi Kamanu, Gene Maluifale Kama, Mary Maka Lee, Daverlene Kihau’Lani Richards; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

Ted Ura

Ted Tadashi Ura, 87, of Hilo, died July 28, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Facility in Hilo. Born Feb. 12, 1932, in Kurtistown, he was a retired DOE counselor at Hilo High School, U.S. Army Korean War veteran, former football coach at Hilo High School, charter member of the Lehua Jaycees and member of Keaau Senior Golf Club.

Private celebration of life held. No flowers. No Koden (monetary offerings).

He is survived by wife, Ellen Ura of Hilo; son, Garret Ura of Wailuku (Maui); daughter, Gaylyn (Robert) Ura-Stout of Hilo; brother, Jack (Emi) Ura of Holualoa; sister, Gail Matsumoto of Kailua (Oahu); two grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Calib Sarabia

Calib Sarabia of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 5, 2019, in Kailua-Kona. Born Nov. 15, 1963, in the Philippines, he was a taxi driver.

(Jeanny) Sarabia of Las Vegas, Nevada; Justin (Rose) Sarabia of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter, Collette Chapman of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Jessie (Pat) Sarabia of Federal Way, Washington, Danny Sarabia of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Ben (Jessica) DeLeon of Maui, and Wesley Sarabia of Philippines; sisters, Clarissa Southerland of Kailua-Kona, Edith (Robert) Sarabia of Waimea, and Lia (Paul) Lanuza of Phoenix, Arizona.

Fumio Yoshioka

Fumio Yoshioka, 85, of Papaikou died July 11, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the retired owner of Fumio Yoshioka General Contracting, previously employed by Isemoto Contracting and Katsumi Taniguchi Contracting and a member of the Papaikou Hongwanji Mission.

Friends may call 3-4:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; memorial service at 4:30. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Yoshiko Yoshioka of Papaikou; daughters, Phyllis (John) Schulte of Boise, Idaho, Merle (Stanley) Costales of Hilo, Kathlene (Clayton) Nagata of Hilo; sons, Ryan (Pamela Jones) Yoshioka of Hilo, Colin (Rosemary Inouye) Yoshioka of Hilo; two sisters-in-law; nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, five hanai grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
