Gary Bernhardson

Gary Bernhardson Sept. 24, 2019, at home. He was a husband, father, grandfather, avid outdoorsman, big game hunter, commercial fisherman, teacher, photographer, film maker, inventor, and dreamer. He lived in Kaloko mauka in Kona for over a decade.

A celebration of life will be held next summer in Alaska.

Tom Valterria Jr.

Tom R. Valterria Jr., 75, of Kailua-Kona, died Oct. 6, 2019. Born in 1944 in California, he was a veteran of the US Air Force. He retired in 2006 as IT director for a school district.

Private services are planned.

He is survived by wife, Janice; son, Thomas; daughter, Meridith; and three grandchildren.

Jeffrey Butterfield

Jeffrey “Jeff” Edward Butterfield, 63, of Hilo, died Sept. 20, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Feb. 5, 1956, in Massachusetts, he was a cargo agent for the former Aloha Airlines.

Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. Oct. 19 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Memorial service is at 10 a.m., urn burial to follow at noon at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Ann Butterfield of Hilo; sons, Justin (Stacey Nishiki) Shimasaki of Honolulu, Oahu and Jeremy (Alyssa) Butterfield of Hilo; brother, John Butterfield of Ashland, Mass.; sister, Joni McMahon of Millbury, Mass.

Ronald Vizzone

Ronald “Ron” “Ronnie” Anthony Vizzone, 69, of Keaau, died Oct. 1, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Dec. 27, 1949, in Irvington, N.J., he was a retired county correction sergeant for Essex County Department of Public Safety, a member of Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and the Army National Guard of New Jersey.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 18 at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church, urn burial to follow at the church cemetery. Aloha attire.

He is survived by wife, Corazon “Cora” Vizzone of Keaau; sons, Christopher Vizzone of Keaau and Anthony Vizzone of Hilo; stepson, Alexander Tagana-Din of San Francisco.

William Kuali’i, Sr.

William “Faddahs” Kawaipu’ilani Kuali’i, Sr., 70, of Hilo, died Sept. 2, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kalaoa, he was a fisherman, farmer, family man and worked and retired from Kilauea Military Camp Cafeteria.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Oct. 19 at Connect Point Church, 168 Holomua St. in Hilo. Service begins at 11 a.m., casual attire.

He is survived by son, Shayne (Claudine Perreira) Kuali’i, Sr. of Hilo; daughters, Kimberlee (Shannon Demello) Kuali’i-Demello of Hilo and Ku’ulei (Preston Endo) Kuali’i of Hilo; stepmom, Vienna Kuali’i of Hilo; brothers, Gilbert (Joann) Kuali’i, Jr. of Pepe’ekeo and Lance (Catharine) Kuali’i of Virginia; sisters, Ivy Kuoha of Hilo and Jeni (Kaleo) Waipa of Hilo; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Duke Wilson

Duke Roland Wilson, 75, of Kahului, Maui, formerly of Puna, died Sept. 11, 2019, at home. Born in Pahala, he was a US Navy veteran, a member of the Board of Directors for The Arc of Maui County, and owner of Kaanapali (Aikane) Trolley.

Visitation will be held from 8:30-10 a.m. on Oct. 18 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Service begins at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial luncheon; Graveside service and military honors to follow at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.

He is survived by, mother, Margaret M. Wilson of Puna; former wife, Monique Wilson of Kahului, Maui; son, Duke Wilson, Jr. of Puna; daughter, Michelle (Don) Perea of Hilo; partner, Gail Kanetani of Kahului, Maui; daughter, Kuhea (Arlie) Asiu of Kahului, Maui; grandsons, Brandon (Katherine) Perea of Hilo, Bryson (Carmen) Paracuelles of Wahiawa and Landon (Catherine) Paracuelles of Wahiawa; five great-granddaughters; five nephews.

Brian Andrade

Brian Tsugio Andrade, 42, of Naalehu, died Sept. 20, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 3, 1977, in Kealakekuahe, he was a self-employed mason for Ace Construction Company.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Oct. 19 at the Puu Honua O Honaunau, City of Refuge’s boat ramp for a 10 a.m. celebration of life. The family requests casual attire and no flowers.

He is survived by his companion, Thia LeBron of Naalehu; sons, Brian T. (Malia Kamaka-Chapman) Andrade Jr. and Justin K. Andrade of Kailua-Kona; hanai son, Austin Van Zandt of Kohala; hanai daughter, Shayla Van Zandt; mother, Coleen Mitchell of Kailua-Kona; father, Dennis (Darlene) Jones of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; brothers, Donny (Faith) Andrade, Wayne (Eva) Fukunaga, Patrick (Chrissy) Malone, Coogan (Gina) Mitchell, Kawika (Billie) Mitchell; sisters, Sophie Conrad-Mitchell, Michelle Mitchell, Venus Mitchell; numerous grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nicholas Ramos

Nicholas Christopher Ramos, 26, of Hilo, died Oct. 1, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo and was a graduate of Waiakea High School and Hilo Community College with a degree in Diesel Mechanics. He worked for CB Welding and Fabrication and various other companies and was also a member of New Hope Church Hilo.

Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Oct. 19 at New Hope Church Hilo. Memorial services at 10:30 a.m. Urn committal services at 1:30 p.m. at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire.

Survived by mother, Kristie (Clayton P.
