Narcotics search warrant in Hilo leads to arrest

Hawaii Island police have charged a man with a host of drug offenses after police executed a search warrant Tuesday at a Hilo residence.

Jaren Kalaikau Larinaga-Napihaa was taken into police custody after the execution of a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the West Puainako Street area of Hilo on Tuesday, according to the Hawaii Police Department. The investigation originated from a Crime Stoppers complaint of drugs being distributed from a residence near a public school.

During the search of the residence, police reportedly recovered 3.5 grams of heroin, 1 gram of methamphetamine, and various drug paraphernalia items, according to police. The drugs recovered were apparently broken down into amounts for distribution.

Larinaga-Napihaa was charged with first-degree promoting a dangerous drug, two counts third-degree promoting a dangerous drug, possessing drug paraphernalia, and promoting a controlled substance in/on/near a school.

His bail was set at $16,000 pending an initial court appearance.
