Stephen Schmelz
Stephen Charles Schmelz, 62, of Kailua-Kona, died April 19, 2020 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Oakland, CA, on Feb. 1, 1958, he was a district manager for the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Hawaii Division of Boating. He was a former police officer, a member of Makalei Kolepa Hui golf club and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Services will be held at a later date.
He is survived by his wife, Jessica Schmelz of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Stephanie (Christopher) Marsala of San Tan Valley, AZ; brother, Robert Schmelz of Forney, TX; one grandson; nieces and nephews.

Donald Hall
Donald Norman Blake Hall, 75, of Hilo, died March 18, 2020 at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Sydney, Australia, he was a Research Professor of Astronomy at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Private services. Survived by wife, Patricia Tummons of Hilo; sons, Andrew Hall of Portland, OR; daughter, Katherine Gonsalves of Portland, OR; brother, Christopher Hall of Sidney, Australia; two grandchildren.
