Ricarte Calabucal, 85, of Kurtistown, died April 15, 2020. He was born on July 6, 1934 in the Philippines.

He is survived by wife, Perpetua Calabucal; sons, Rogelio (Dolores) Calabucal, Ricarte (Feliza) Calabucal, Dennis (Marilyn) Calabucal; daughter, Nelia (Jamie) Tagalicud; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Robert Stewart

Robert T.H.K. Stewart, 49, of Hilo, died April 19, 2020 at home. He was a Hawaii County Police Officer.

He is survived by daughter, Taylor Ann Stewart of Kona; sons, Brandon Stewart and Wailana Stewart of Hilo; sister, Roxane Keli’ikipikaneokolohaka of Hilo; mother, Lucia Stewart of Hilo.

Diane Akine

Diane Makiko Akine, 81, of Hilo, died May 1, 2020 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Facility. Born Sept. 23, 1938, in Honolulu, she was a retired teacher from Waiakea Elementary School.

She is survived by son, Clint Akine of Hilo; daughter, Terri Lynn Akine of Hilo; brothers, Wallace (Carol) Ishii and Roy Ishii, all of Honolulu; sister, Katherine Ishihara of Honolulu; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Lloyd Ching

Lloyd “Butchie” Nyuk Fah Ching, 75, of Waikoloa, died May 3, 2020 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born March 25, 1945, in Kohala, he was a retired busboy at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, a retired buffet attendant at Hilton Waikoloa Village and member of New Hope Legacy Church and Ho’onani Adult Day Care.

He is survived by wife, Daveline Andaya Ching of Waikoloa; son, David (Carol) Ching of Hanamaulu, Kauai; daughter, Ruth (Dustin Kaneta-Ogata) Ching of Kailua-Kona; sister, Leonetta Ching-Hoskins of Westminster, CA; one grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Patricia Emeliano

Patricia “Patsi,” “Kawai” Ann Emeliano, 64, of Kailua-Kona, died April 26 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born February 11, 1956 in Kealakekua, she was a hula dancer, office manager for Coming Home Hawaii, direct service worker for Arc of Kona, and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She is survived by spouse, Keola Emeliano; children, Haunani (Pono Machado) Ynigues, Kekoa (Lani Fauhiva) Ynigues all of Kailua-Kona, Kaulumahiehie (Brody Tinao) Emeliano of Kealakekua, Mahikenani (Kaulana) Tripp-Gouveia of Honaunau; brother, Abreu (Fran) Correia of Waianae; sisters, Carol (Mose) Fuiava of Washington, Jennifer (David) King of California; 18 grandchildren, a great-grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Julia Rose

Julia Kawaianuenue Rose AKA. Julie K. Rose, 87, of Keaau, died May 1, 2020 at home. Born Nov. 29, 1932 in Honolulu, she was a former early childhood educator for Imua Puna/Hilo and a member of Paradise Chapel, Maile and the Living Waters, Hilo; Assembly of God Churches.

Services will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on May 10. Please call (808) 825-9905 for more details. An inurnment will be at from 9 a.m. May 11 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2 Columbarium.

She is survived by children, Daniel Gonsalves, Bernadette Gonsalves, Georgette Rosa, Julie Ann Deguair, Phyllis Dudoit, Edie Rose and Stephen Rose; siblings, Peter Kawaa Jr., Herman Akana Jr. and Sharlynn Hironaka; 25 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Steven Durrant

Steven Durrant, 76, of Keaau, died April 29, 2020 at home. Born in 1943, in London, England, he was a master carpenter and a former member of the Puna Canoe Club and Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is survived by wife, Frances Hulbert-Durrant of Keaau; son, Steven Paul (Mariam) Durrant of England; sisters, Yvonne Durant of England, and Jennifer Coburn of Canada; counins; nieces; a nephew; and a great-nephew.
