Health officials Wednesday reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, including one on Hawaii Island.

The new Hawaii Island case brings the Hawaii County’s total to 86 with all but three of those persons who’ve tested positive for the novel coronavirus remaining in isolation as of noon Wednesday, according to the COVID-19 Joint Information Center. Just two people have required hospitalization since Feb. 28.

Thirteen of the cases announced Wednesday were on Oahu and another two were Hawaii residents diagnosed outside of the state, according to the center. Oahu’s tally now stands at 584, Maui’s at 122 and Kauai’s at 29.

To date, 835 Hawaii residents have tested positive for COVID-19 with 686 of those cases having since recovered and been released from isolation. Statewide, 105 patients have required hospitalization and 17 people have died, including 11 on Oahu and six on Maui.
