Kona Elks Club announces dinner
Dinner with Muriel at the Kona Elks will take place from 5-7 p.m. this evening at the Kona Elks Club in Kailua-Kona. The meal features beef bourguignon and noodles for $10. Meals can be eaten at the facility or taken out.

Girl Scouts to host virutal recruitment activities
Girl Scouts of Hawaii is inviting girls and their parents to take part in upcoming virtual recruitment events. The interactive meetings offer girls the chance to gain new skills and make new friends in a fun and safe environment, while parents and caregivers learn more about Girl Scouts programs.
The online events are free and open to all girls from kindergarten through third grade.
• Make New Friends! Kindergarten Readiness Series will be held 5 to 5:30 p.m. on Fridays from Aug. 7 to 28. The series is geared toward non-Girl Scouts entering kindergarten in the fall. The four-part series allows girls to connect with the same friends each week, as well as Girl Scouts staff and volunteers who lead her through sessions around language and literacy, cognition, approaches to learning, and social and emotional learning. • Girl Scouts of Hawaii Animal Dance Party will be held 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 15. The event is geared toward girls in kindergarden to third grade and will feature Girl Scout leaders highlighting and explaining the differences and characteristics of various animal species through fun and creative dance movements. • Girl Scouts of Hawaii Robot Building Party will take place from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 22. The party is geared toward girls in kindergarden to third grade and will allow girls to tap into their creativity by constructing their own robot diagram. Hawaiian Electric offers payment plans to help customers
To assist residents and businesses dealing with the financial toll of the coronavirus pandemic, Hawaiian Electric is offering special payment plan options to customers, including extending payments over time.
Hawaiian Electric suspended disconnections and collections activities since March. In accordance with PUC direction, Hawaiian Electric extended its moratorium on disconnections for nonpayment through Sept. 1, and late fees resume after Sept. 15.
Customers who have been notified their accounts are past due are urged to contact the company well before Sept. 1 to set up a payment plan.
“We know that many of our customers continue to experience financial strain, and our special payment plans are set up to provide customers with extended payment options with no penalty or financing fees during this unprecedented time,” said Shelee Kimura, Hawaiian Electric senior vice president of customer service. “For us to help, we need to hear from you.”
