Emergency warning sirens to be tested Thursday

The monthly test of the all-hazard Statewide Outdoor Warning Siren System, coordinated with the test of the Live Audio Broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System, is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Thursday.

During this monthly test, all outdoor warning sirens will sound a 1-minute attention alert signal (steady tone), according to the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency. A simultaneous test of the live audio broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System is conducted with the monthly siren sounding, in cooperation with Hawaii’s broadcast industry.

DPW to conduct building permit system maintenance

Building permit system Hawaii County’s building permit system will be down for maintenance on Thursday, according to the Hawaii County Department of Public Works Building Division. The Papa Aukahi system go offline at 2 a.m. and be down for most of the day.

While the system is down, the Building Division’s counter services in Hilo and Kona will still be open for application drops off and pickups, general permitting questions, as well as discussion of rejection comments with building reviewers.
