Police say a 33-year-old man wanted in connection with an October attempted murder in Ka‘u took his own life.

Carlwin David, of Ocean View, was wanted for questioning in connection with an Oct. 26 shooting in Ocean View that sent a 41-year-old Ocean View man to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his chest, according to the Hawaii Police Department.

Subsequent investigation determined the body was that of David. After an autopsy was conducted at Kona Community Hospital, David’s death was ruled a suicide with the cause of death listed as asphyxiation by hanging.
