James Hitzemann

James Ervin Hitzemann, 77, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 5, 2021, at his residence. Born in St. Paul, he was a retired banker, treasurer for Hospice of Kona and the Kailua-Kona Yacht Club and a retiree of the U.S. Army Reserve.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Nancy Hitzemann of Kailua-Kona; son, Deric (Joy Jones) Hitzemann of Federal Way, Washington; daughter, Krista (Todd) Riski of Des Moines, Washington; and brother, Jerry (Kathy)Hitzemann of Freeland, Washington.

Beverly Kypfer

Beverly Kay Kypfer, 66, of Waikoloa, died Feb. 19, 2021, at her residence. Born August 3, 1954 in Williams, AZ, she was a clinical services assistant for North Hawaii Hospice and a former pastry chef for Merriman’s restaurant in Waimea.

No services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to North Hawaii Hospice, 65-1328 Kawaihae Road, Kamuela, HI 96743.

She is survived by husband, James Ashford of Waikoloa; and brother, Doug Kypfer of Montana.

Michael Young

Michael Young, 60, of Waimea and Elk Rapids, Michigan, died Feb. 20, 2021, at his residence. He was born Nov. 18, 1960, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

He is survived by son, Cameron Young, of Elk Rapids, Michigan; daughter, Marin Young, Elk Rapids, Michigan; companion Kelly Hagan, Traverse City, Michigan; parents Robert (Pauline) Young, Traverse City, Michigan; brothers Tom (Simone) Young and Peter Young, Traverse City, Michigan; and nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Decoito

Kenneth William Ka’ea Decoito, 29, of Hilo, died Feb. 20, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a pest exterminator, and a member at the Naalehu Assembly of God Church.

A drive-through service will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. March 12 at Ballard Family Mortuary.

He is survived by his father, Kenneth (Tracey) Decoito of Waiohinu; mother, Sharlene (Clarence) Alcoran of Naalehu; brothers, Daelen (Tania) Decoito of Alaska, Travis (Kehau) Decoito and Jeremiah “Jerry” (Shavonne) Benevides, all of Waiohinu, Keola (Kaylynn) Balatona of Hilo, Clarence (Eva) Alcoran Kona, Curtis (Kasey) Alcoran of Utah, Dale (Jade) Benevides of Washington, Rolland (Courtney) Alcoran and Michael (Kahanu) Alcoran of Kona, and Larry (Bea) Al-Navarro of Pahala; sisters, Gaylen (Roland) Castaneda of Naalehu, Meil’i Batalona, Denise Batalona, Nohe Batalona, Eva Decoito, and Levi (Kana) Benevides, all of Hilo, Chanice (Devin) Vea of Utah, and Ciara Ortega of Pahala; grandparents, William (Eleanor) Derasin of Naalehu; hanai parents, Harry (Ened) Batalona of Hilo; and numerous uncles, aunt’s, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dorann Zuke

Dorann “Dodie” Louise Ehrlich Zuke, 74, of Waimea, died Feb. 6, 2021, in Waikoloa. Born Dec. 14, 1946, in San Francisco, she was a retired banquet captain at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott, a volunteer for Kahilu Theatre, North Hawaii Community Hospital and was a member of Waimea Outdoor Circle.
