One new COVID-19 case was reported Wednesday on the Big Island, bringing the total case count to date to 2,743.
Statewide, 47 new cases were reported Wednesday by the Department of Health with 30 of those cases on Oahu, eight in Maui County and no new cases in Kauai County. Eight residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Since the end of last February, 33,376 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 60 cases, or an average of 4.7 cases per day. Of those cases, 24 were reported in Kailua-Kona and 12 in Hilo. Other districts around the island reported ten or less cases in the two week period.
The Big Island Wednesday had a 0.8% positivity rate, still below the statewide average of 1.4%
Also Wednesday, a total of 46 patients with the virus were in Hawaii hospitals with one reported on the Big Island.
One new coronavirus-related death was reported on Tuesday on Oahu. Of the 489 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 378 were on Oahu, 53 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
