Six new COVID-19 cases were reported Thursday on the Big Island, bringing the total case count to 2,870.
Statewide, 58 new cases were reported by the Department of Health with 38 of those cases on Oahu, nine in Maui County and none on Kauai. Five cases were residents diagnosed out of state. Since the end of last February, 36,032 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 60 cases, or an average of 4.9 cases per day. The Kailua-Kona and Hilo areas reported 19 and 12 cases, respectively.
The Big Island and the state both had a 1% positivity rate Thursday.
Also Thursday, a total of 43 patients with the virus were in Hawaii hospitals with three reported on the Big Island.
Two new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Thursday. Of the 498 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 386 were on Oahu, 54 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
