Police looking for 17-year-old Ka‘u girl

UPDATE: Big Island police reported Tuesday that 17-year-old La’akea Martins was located Monday in good health in Hilo.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 17-year-old girl from Ka‘u who was reported as a runaway.

La‘akea Martins was last seen about 10 p.m. June 12 in Na‘alehu, according to the Hawaii Police Department. She is described as being 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds with a medium build and light brown shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. She is believed to frequent the Ka‘u and Puna districts.
