Police looking for 17-year-old Ka‘u girl

UPDATE: Big Island police reported Tuesday that 17-year-old La’akea Martins was located Monday in good health in Hilo.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 17-year-old girl from Ka‘u who was reported as a runaway.

La‘akea Martins was last seen about 10 p.m. June 12 in Na‘alehu, according to the Hawaii Police Department. She is described as being 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds with a medium build and light brown shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. She is believed to frequent the Ka‘u and Puna districts.

Anyone with any information on her whereabouts should call the department’s nonemergency line at (808) 935-3311, or Officer Isaac Michaels of the Ka‘u Patrol Division at (808) 939-2520.
