Candidates sought for Miss Kona Coffee Scholarship Competition

The UCC Hawaii Miss Kona Coffee Scholarship Program seeks young women interested in participating in this year’s competition.

Opportunities to register as a candidate in the November competition will be held at Kona Commons Shopping Center from 3 to 6 p.m. on June 26 and July 18. The registration events will be held just outside of the Jean’s Warehouse store.

The UCC Hawai’i Miss Kona Coffee Scholarship Program celebrates the Kona Coffee industry, and the titleholders, Miss Kona Coffee and Miss Aloha Hawaii are ambassadors who represent Hawaii Island’s culture and heritage. Candidates vie for scholarships and the opportunity to potentially compete in the Miss Hawaii and Miss America competitions.

Young women between the ages of 17-25 as of Dec. 31, 2022, who are interested in learning about the competition, are invited to come by Kona Commons, meet the program directors and current titleholders, and pick up a registration packet.

This year’s competition is being held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival, which will be held Nov. 4-7. The pageant is scheduled for Nov. 5 at the Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.

For more information on the competition, visit www.misskonacoffee.org, email Ally Brown, executive director, at misskonacoffeeorg@gmail.com, or call (808) 796-1340.
