Six new COVID-19 cases were reported by state health officials Thursday on the Big Island, bringing the total case tally to 3,228 since late-February 2020.
Statewide, 55 new cases were reported by the Department of Health with 29 of those cases on Oahu, 11 in Maui County and seven on Kauai. Two cases were among residents diagnosed out of state.
Since the end of last February, 37,484 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
The Big Island had a 3.2% seven-day positivity rate, over the state’s 1.5% positivity rate on Thursday. Over the last 14 days, 171 cases have been reported on the Big Island. Over the past week, the island has reported an average of 10.9 cases per day.
Statewide, 34 individuals were hospitalized on Thursday, including four on the Big Island.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Thursday. Of the 513 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 397 were on Oahu, 57 were on Maui, 54 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
