Llewellyn Kapela

Llewellyn “Kap” Kapela, 78, of Kailua-Kona died July 5, 2021, at his residence. Born June 2, 1943, in Honolulu, he was a retired power mower operator for Hawaii County Parks and Recreation and State Department of Facility Maintenance in Honolulu, paddler and member of Kai O Pua and Healani canoe clubs, and a Waikiki beach boy for the former Nappy Napoleon Beach Services.

Services will be announced at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Alethea Kapela of Kailua-Kona; children, Alika (Dina) Willis and Marleina Willis, all of Honolulu, Jimmy (Anita Ambrosio) Willis of Pahoa, and Kalani (Shelly) Kapela of Discovery Harbor; brothers, Allen (Sherry) Willis of Honolulu and Rodney (Georgette) Willis of Kailua-Kona; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Arrangements by Cremation Services of West Hawaii.

Linda Shanahan

Linda Carol Shanahan, 48, of Waikoloa, died June 30, 2021, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born Nov. 5, 1972, in New York City, she was an officer for the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority in New York City.

Friends may call at 10:30 a.m. July 23 at St. James Episcopal Church in Waimea for a service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of Kona.

She is survived by husband, Shamus Shanahan, of Waikoloa; son, Shamus Raphael Shanahan, of Waikoloa; brothers, Robert (Giselle) Saenger and Michael Saenger; and hanai daughter, Samantha (Robert) Habibe, all of College Point, N.Y.

Petelo Finau

Petelo “Lo” Fine Finau, 38, of Kailua-Kona, died July 10, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 7, 1982, in Tongatapu, Tonga, he was a stone mason, heavy equipment operator and a member of Kona Christian Church.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a Tongan service at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

He is survived by wife, Jennifer Finau of Kailua-Kona; mother, Kelela Finau of Tonga; brothers, Sione (Jericha) Finau and Loketi (Salote) Finau, all of Kailua-Kona, Tuai (Sharon) Finau of Tonga, and Sitani (Ailine) Finau of New Zealand; sisters, Emeline (Fe’iloakiTohi me muli) Tu’uta, Letisia Finau and Na’ati Finau of Tonga; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
