Patrick Fuga

Patrick Fuga, 42, of Holualoa, Hawaii, died July 10, 2021 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in LBJ T.M.C., American Samoa on Aug. 18, 1978, he was a driver for KHG Trucking Company and member of Kona Christian Church.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. July 30, at Kona Christian Church in Kailua-Kona.

He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Ching of Las Vegas, NV. and Lileigh Fuga of Arizona; sons, Patrick Ching of Las Vegas, Fatu Fuga of Kailua-Kona and Palani Fuga of Arizona; stepson, Pakui Lopes of Arizona; parents, Sifagatele and Lemalu Fuga of Anchorage, AK; sisters, Tufi (Yutaka) Tomihara and Valerie Fuga, all of Anchorage, Asuslu Fuga of Colorado, Jan (Yoon) Cricton of Honolulu and Stephanie Taito of Colorado; brothers, Laupama (Shawna) Fuga, Alexander Togi and Asipagoa Fatu, all of Kailua-Kona.

Yoshinobu Terada

Yoshinobu “Yoshi” Terada, 89, of Keaau, died June 1, 2021 at his residence. Born Nov. 9, 1931, in Hilo, he was a retired high school teacher in Hawthorne, Nevada. and Portland, OR.

Services will be private and limited.

He is survived by wife, Artyce Terada; daughters, Patricia Terada, Christina Altamura; son, Mitchell Terada; and six grandchildren.

Alejandro Garaya Gabuat, Jr.

Alejandro “Al” “Alex” Garaya Gabuat, Jr., 64, of Hilo, died June 28, 2021 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 2, 1956 in Hilo, he was a retired worker for the Hilton Waikoloa Village.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Survived by, brothers, Vladimar (Cassandra) Gabuat of Hilo, Norbert Gabuat of Waipahu, Oahu, Ronald (Dawn) Daquip of Honolulu, Robert (Lisa) Daquip of Ewa Beach, Nelson Gacusan of Hilo, Froilan (Leimomi) Gacusan of Kauai, Danilo Alviento and Davin Alviento of Puna; sisters, Brenda (Scottie) Basque of Puna, Pricilla Gacusan of Hilo and Denise Alviento of Kona.

Edward Kehoa Ahuna Jr.

Edward Kehoa Ahuna Jr., 76, of Kailua-Kona, died July 4, 2021 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hilo, he was a former sales manager at Gold Bond Stamps, driver for Island RV Tours and Gold Coast Town Cars.

Private services held.

He is survived by his daughter, Edie (Ernie) Camero; brother Welden (Pam) Ahuna; and a grandchild.

Joseph Holi Poai, IV

Joseph “’Eha” Holi Poai, IV, 36, of Hilo, died July 8, 2021 at his home. Born in Hilo, Hawaii. He was a social services assistant with the State Department of Human Services, Child and Welfare Section. He was a member of the H.G.E.A. Union Local 3.

Visitation will be held 4:30-6 p.m., July 30, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo; Celebration of life at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. July 31, at the mortuary; celebration of life at 10 a.m.; cremation to follow. Aloha attire.

Survived by, wife, Glennis Kanae-Rodrigues; parents, Joseph Poai, III and Yvette Bright-Poai; sisters, Courtney (Patrick Duffy) Poai and Cecily Poai.

Jerry Fernandez,

Jerry Allen Fernandez, 78, of Hilo, died July 13, 2021 at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. He was born in Honolulu and was a tow truck driver and owner of Jerry’s Towing, and an avid drag car racer and the owner of Mad Mad 8.

Celebration of life 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Mohouli Park Pavilion. Face masks required. Casual attire; no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Miriam Fernandez of Hilo; sons, Michael Fernandez of Honolulu and Jerry Fernandez of Hilo; daughters, Pearline (DJ) Llanes and Cynthia Baeza of Milolii, Charmane Fernandez of Honolulu, Kathy (James) Oliveira and Jennifer (Sean Coffelt) Spencer of Hilo; brothers, James (Kathy) Fernandez and Bobby (Marleen) Fernandez of Hilo; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
