DOH: State adds 460 new COVID-19 cases, including 84 on the Big Island

The state Department of Health Tuesday reported 460 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, including 84 on the Big Island.

With the new cases, the Big Island’s tally reached 5,753 and the state 52,199. Hawaii County currently has a 7.4% test positivity rate, just under the 7.5% positivity rate statewide.

According to the DOH, 8,238 new cases have been reported in Hawaii in the past 14 days, including 1,436 on the Big Island. There has been an average of 656.6 new cases the past seven days statewide with the Big Island averaging 109.7 cases per day.

On the Big Island, Kailua-Kona and Hilo reported the most cases over the past two weeks with 371 and 372 cases, respectively. Meanwhile, 83 cases have cropped up in the Waikoloa area and 90 in the Waimea area of South Kohala.

The department Tuesday reported no new COVID-related deaths. Of the 552 deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 426 were on Oahu, 62 were on Maui, 59 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.

Testing is available today at the following times and sites:

• Noon to 4 p.m. at the Kona Community Aquatic Center on Kuakini Highway in Kailua-Kona. Testing provided by KTA Super Stores.

• 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lokahi Park/Punahele Housing in Hilo. Testing provided by Premier Medical – Mobile Unit.

Testing will also be conducted this week at the following times and sites:

• Noon to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium on Manono Street in Hilo. Testing provided by KTA Super Stores.

• 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Kealakehe High School on Puohulihuli Street in Kailua-Kona. Testing provided by Bay Clinic/West Hawaii Community Health Center.

• 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hilo Lanes on Kinoole Street in Hilo. Testing provided by Premier Medical – Mobile Unit.

• 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Kona International Market on Luhia Street in Kailua-Kona. Testing provided by Premier Medical – Mobile Unit.

• Noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Waimea District Park on Ala Ohia Road in Waimea. Testing provided by KTA Super Stores.

Note: There is no testing currently scheduled by the county on Wednesday or Sunday.
