Fundraiser to support Kamakana Playground repairs

The Friends of Higashihara Park in partnership with the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation to host a fundraiser to repair and replace deteriorating wooden fencing and play equipment at Kamakana Park.

The wooden equipment has sustained damaged from years of exposure to the natural elements, and the push is on to preserve one of Hawaii Islands favorite playground and rest stop. For over 14 years, the Lions Club of Kona have been applying waterproofing to the wood in the playground area, but over time, the sun and the rain took its toll, so the club, with it’s foundation, decided to partner with the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation to adopt the park, and create the Friends of Higashihara Park.

The renovation efforts will take a considerable amount of money and resources, which the club is hoping the community, businesses, and other organizations will support.

To donate to the GoFundMe Fundraiser, go to https://gofund.me/0405202e or search for Higashihara Park at GoFundMe.com

The Lions Club of Kona is part of Lions Club International, the world’s largest and most active service organization, made up of ordinary community members serving our communities.
