The Hawaii County Fire Department responded to a Saturday morning structure fire across from Kahalu‘u Beach on Alii Drive, finding flames and smoke coming from the north corner of the house with flames spreading to the rest of the structure

The call came in at 4:57 a.m. with the Keauhou station responding at 5:07 a.m. Additional units from Kailua and Captain Cook also responded to the call and the fire was put out at 5:27 a.m.

The house was unoccupied.

The fire department estimated the loss at $100,000.
