Josephine Kanoelehua Like Kong, 93, of Aleamai, Papaikou, died Aug. 12, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Aleamai, Papaikou and attended Haili Church-Kuhio Chapel in Keaukaha.

She is survived by daughters, Jadeen (Rudy) Kong-Webster of Mountain View, Henrene (Blaine) Ito of Aleamai, Papaikou, and Noella Kong and Alda (Robert) Katagiri of Kaneohe, Oahu; sisters, Aloha Northam of Aleamai, Papaikou, Thelma Like of Hilo and Winona Hopkins of Kaneohe, Oahu; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shannon Warfield
Shannon Omaikalani Warfield, 48, of Waimea, died Sept. 3, 2021, at his residence. Born Oct. 4, 1972, in Hilo, he was a licensed steel contractor and owner of Red Steel SW Inc., certified welding inspector, award-winning motorcycle bike builder and metal shaper and member of the American Welding Society, “Island Boyz” Motorcycle Club on Oahu and the “Spirits” Car Club in Ventura California.
Private services will be held at a later date.
He is survived by wife, Kaleo Warfield of Waimea; children, Makayla Warfield and Tatiana Warfield of Waimea; father, Richard Warfield of Hilo; brother, Shadd (Naomi Ahu) Warfield of Hilo; sisters, Dionne (Liusa) Laititi of Volcano and Dedra (Milton) Nahinu of Honolulu; and numerous nieces and nephews.

May Hatayama
May Ayame Hatayama, 83, of Hilo, died Aug. 27, 2021, at her residence. Born May 27, 1938, in Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission.

She is survived by husband, Larry Hatayama of Hilo; son, Neal (Jo-Ann) Hatayama of Hilo; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Virginia Honda
Virginia Beatrice Honda, 91, of Hilo and formerly of Paauhau, died Sept. 1, 2021, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born May 21, 1930, in Paauhau, she was retired from the former Honokaa Hospital, a volunteer at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Kohala Puerto Rican Social Club, UPW Retirees and Hamakua Jodo Mission.
Services will be held at a later date.
She is survived by daughters, Suzanne (Warren) Maisenbach of Keaau, and Trina (Alec) Lebel and Melissa (Christopher) Brilhante of Hilo; sister, Frances (Leonard) Ayala of Modesto, California; brother, John (Anita) Perry Jr. of Honokaa; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Vera Bosak
Vera Bosak, 87, of Orchidland died Aug. 25, 2021, at a private care home. Born in the Czech Republic, she was the co-owner of the former Photocine Servicenter Inc. on Oahu, former elementary school teacher in the Czech Republic and a gardener.

He is survived by son, Zdenek (Margaret Russo) Kluzak of Volcano; step-daughters, Kristina (Scott) Wright of Washington, and Jirina Potuzakova and Jaroslava Vlasakova, both of the Czech Republic; and four grandchildren.

Hatsuko “Hazel” Narimatsu, 91, of Hilo, died Aug. 29, 2021, at her residence. Born Jan. 3, 1930, in Paauilo, she was a housewife.

She is survived by son, Howard Narimatsu of Hilo; daughters, Edna Narimatsu of Florida, Trisia Uchida of Keaau and Priscilla (Robert) Gomez of Kurtistown; brother, Lin Akiyama of Kaneohe; sisters, Nancy Yamasaki of Kaneohe and Thelma Inouye of California; one granddaughter; two great-grandsons; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Susumu Nakagawa
Susumu Nakagawa, 98, of Hilo, died Sept. 22, 2020, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born Sept. 21, 1922, in Hilo, he was retired research entomologist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a member of the Hilo Meishoin Buddhist Temple, 442nd Veterans Club and was a U.S.Army Veteran Company C 100th Battalion 442d Infantry Regiment.
Friends may call from 2:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. service. Casual attire is requested. The family requests no flowers or koden (monetary contributions).

John Mulkey
John Wayne Mulkey, 74, of Mountain View, died July 14, 2020, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Feb. 2, 1946, in Honolulu, he was a retired chief agent for Hawaiian Airlines, U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Mountain View.
