Yoshito Omuro
Yoshito “Bombo” Omuro, 95, of Ola‘a, died Aug. 7, 2021, in Waipahu, Oahu. He was a former machinist with the former Puna Sugar and Ka‘u Sugar Plantations and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.
Private services will be held at a later date in Hilo. Interment will take place at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Hilo.

Dolores Teresa “Dee” Oskins, 85, of Keaau, died Sept. 5, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hakalau, she was a retired office manager with Oskins Electric.

Lillian Muriel Naihe, 83, of Hilo, died Aug. 27, 2021, at her residence. Born Oct. 9, 1937, in Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Craig Cass Kimura, 72, of Waimea, died Aug. 27, 2021, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired dentist.

Raymond Lester Mauk, 76, of Keaau, died Sept. 6, 2021, at his residence. Born in Portland, Oregon, he was a truck driver and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Primrose “Rosie”, “Aunty Rosie” Lehuanani Pelekane, 59, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 15, 2021, at her residence. Born Oct.1, 1961 in Honolulu, she was a former teacher for The Salvation Army Keiki Ohana Day Care, sales associate for Ross Stores and Macy’s Makalapua, a teacher for Head Start Pre-School and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

David Kaulia Sr
David “Kawika” Kaulia Sr., 65, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 9, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born May 28, 1956, in Honolulu, he was a school bus driver for the state, construction laborer for Hawaiian Dredging, driver for Speedi-Shuttle, member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a volunteer who assisted with feeding the homeless, caregiver of the sickly, drove senior members to their appointments and entertained the elderly at senior care facilities.

Joseph Abril Sr.
Joseph Jose Abril Sr., 89, of Hilo and formerly of Wailuku, Maui, died Sept. 12, 2021, at a private care home. He retired as a general foreman for Honolulu Shipyard Inc., and was an avid golfer and former member of Sandalwood Golf Course and Pukalani Country Club on Maui.
Private services. Celebration of life and scattering of ashes will be held at a later date. No flowers. No Koden (monetary offerings).

Calvin “Cal” Tanouye, 74, of Hilo died July 27, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the owner of Cal’s 76 Service Station. Services will take place at a later date.
He is survived by partner, Charlotte Hamada; children, Gavin Tanouye, Anne (Sam Hauanio) Tanouye, and Ian (Crystal Robledo) Tanouye; sisters, Marie (James) Fernandez, and Sandi (Eric) Moore; hanai children, Calvin Hamada, Jelden Hamada, Kelinn Hamada, and Blaiselin Hamada; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dolores Bernice Isabel Perreira Tavares, 93, of Hilo, died Sept. 11, 2021, at her residence. Born in Pahoa, she worked as a secretary at Pepe’ekeo School and retired from Kalaniana’ole School, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Young Ladies Institute (YLI), Portuguese Cultural Club, St. Joseph Catholic Church Aloha Choir, and the Pokeno Club.
