James Sloan

James Douglas Sloan, 86, of Keaau, died Sept. 28, 2021, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Gainesville, Georgia, he was a retired chief customer service agent for Hawaiian Airlines and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.

He is survived by sons, Renwick (Diane) Moniz of San Bruno, California, Charles (Lisa) Sloan of Kurtistown, and Jonathan Sloan of Keaau; daughter, Michelle (Al) Meeks of Gainesville, Georgia; brother, Gary Sloan of Gainesville, Georgia; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Anna Ogilvie

Anna Gay Kiliwehikauaikanahele Lindsey Ogilvie, 56, of Henderson, Nevada, and formerly of the Big Island, died Aug. 21, 2021, at her residence.Born in Honokaa, she was a long-time employee of Goodfellow Bros. in Hawaii and Portland, Ore., served as an executive assistant at Turnberry Construction and Peachtree Foamcraft, both in Las Vegas.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by son, Anderson James Ogilvie (Joann) Lindsey of Ocean View; daughter, Lindsay Noelle Ogilvie of Henderson, Nevada; parents, Anna (Gay) and Anderson Lindsey of Waimea; sisters, Heidi (Brian) Mcvey and Heather (Kalani) Lindsey-Lopez of Waimea; four grandchildren; nephews, nieces; and one grandniece.

Milton Branco Jr.

Milton Rapozo Branco Jr., 66, of Hilo, died Sept. 28, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Sept. 26, 1955, in Japan, he was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Honokaa Nutrition and Senior Club, Visayan Filipino Club, and Pension Club.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. Oct. 18 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion for a service. Casual attire.

He is survived by, sons, Alan (Sadie Evangelista) Dalao of Hilo, Milton Branco of California and Timothy Branco of California; daughter, Nicole (Angel) Ramirez of California; and seven grandchildren.

Yvonne Caplener

Yvonne Leslie Caplener, 91, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 6, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Dec. 7, 1929, in Kapaa, Kauai, she was a retired nurse at the Wahiawa General Hospital on Oahu.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. Nov. 18 at St. Catherine’s of Alexandria Cemetery in Kapaa, Kauai, for a service.

She is survived by daughters Desiree (Stephen) Watson of Wailuku, Maui, Jasie Teves of Kailua-Kona and Cecilia Nakaahiki, of Moreno Valley, California; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kalamaokalani Kelekolio-Crivello

Kalamaokalani “Lama” Keith Kelekolio-Crivello, 29, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 25, 2021 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 27, 1991, in Kealakekua, he was a sales associate for Xtreme Kona Partners, LLC.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 16 at Lifewater Church, 81-6614 Hawaii Belt Rd. in Kealakekua, for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire and no flowers.

Mabel Castillo

Mabel Naomi Castillo, 73, of Hilo, died Oct. 3, 2021, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. She was born Feb. 28, 1948, in Kohala.

Neal Shibata

Neal Kazuo Shibata, 64, of Hilo, died Sept. 28, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. He was born in Hilo.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers. In his memory, donations may be made to Hawaii Care Choices, 1011 Waianuenue Ave., Hilo, HI 96720.

He is survived by parents, Hisaichi and Kazue Shibata of Hilo; brother, Lane (Gail) Shibata of Hilo; nephew, Arick Shibata of Hilo; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Thomas Munden

Thomas Lee Munden, 69, of Hawi, died Sept. 24, 2021, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Oct. 28, 1951, in Glendale, California, he was a financial negotiator and a member of the Hawaii Farm Bureau and the Archaelogical Institute of America.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Hennili Munden of Hawi; brothers, Richard Munden and Robert Munden of California; sisters, Dorothy Davis of Nevada and Ruth Anne Glass of Texas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gary Hagerman

Gary Neil Hagerman, 83, of Waimea, died June 3, 2021, at his residence. Born July 3, 1937 in Elmira, New York, he was a retired attorney, volunteer for Isaac’s Art Gallery in Waimea and North Hawaii Hospital, past president with Hospice of Hilo, active in community theatre and chorus, and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Francisco Padua

Francisco Lavarias Padua, 89, of Waikoloa, died Oct. 2, 2021, at his residence. Born Sept. 20, 1932, in Panaga, Manaoag, Pangisanan, Philippines, he was a farmer and worked for Hawaii Care and Cleaning Co. at the Waikoloa Hilton.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by daughters, Virginia Elvambuena and Merlinda Salinas, both of Philippines, and Villa (Ciriaco) Duhaylongsod of Waikoloa; sisters, Rosita Jabilona of Papaaloa and Florida Serame of Canada; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shigeno Kinoshita

Shigeno Kinoshita, 104, of Kapaau, died Sept. 22, 2021 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born Sept. 8, 1917, in Hakalau, she was a housewife and longtime member of the Kohala Jodo Mission.

Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary offerings).

She is survived by son, Rodney (Jo Ann) Kinoshita of Papaaloa; daughter, Lynn (Keith Edwards) Mayeshiro of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.
