Manuel Niere

Manuel B. Niere, 72, of Waimea, died Oct. 9, 2021 at his residence. Born in the Philippines, he was a general cleaner with HCC at the Hilton Waikoloa Village.

Friends may call from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Nov. 18 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Honokaa for a service followed by Mass.

He is survived by daughters, Fannie Nitura and Edita Neri, both of Waimea; sons-in-law, Robert Nitura of Waimea and Rolando Ian Claridades of the Philippines; and three grandchildren.

Mary Ballio

Mary Jane Ballio, 79, of Pahala, died Nov. 2, 2021, at her residence. Born in Kealakekua, she was a retired laborer for Ka’u Plantation, member of the Catholic Youth Organization, Ka’u Christmas Parade organization, and board member of The I Love Jesus Church.

Service to be held at a later date.

She is survived by husband, Raymond Ballio; hanai son, Roscoe Young; daughters, Jammie (Joe) Palacat, Leslie (Alan) Young, and Donnie (Nathan) Almazan; hanai daughter, Leila (Travis) Nelson; brother, Ernest (Gail) Kalani; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
