Rae Lee Awai

Rae Lee Leilani Awai, 69, of Hilo, died Dec. 26, 2021. She was born Feb. 16, 1952, in Hilo.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Jan. 14 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Cremation to follow. Friends may also call at 10 a.m. Jan. 15 at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha for Mass at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Flowers are welcomed.

She is survived by son, Charleston Awai Jr. of Keaukaha; daughter, Melissa (Kimo) Palakiko of Hilo; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald (Judy) Auwae of Waikoloa, Abel (Pearl) Aran Jr. of Florida, Alvin Aran of Honolulu, Oahu, Kenworth Kahalioumi of Hawaii Island, Keenan (Pua) Kahalioumi of Keaukaha and Kristen (Tara) Kahalioumi of Kona; and sisters, Annette (Nelson) Rivera of Hawaii Island, Allison (Jeff) Browning of Illinois, Arlene (Peter) Ahia of Washington, Andrea (Joe) Cislo of Alaska, Robbie Ann (Nelson) Dorwelo of Waianae, Oahu and Kiehm Kahalioumi of Las Vegas.

Lorey Andres I

Lorey Phil (Loreto) Andres I, 72 of Keaau, died on Dec. 13, 2021 in Hilo. Born Dec. 10, 1949, in Isabela, Philippines, he was a retired supervisor for Tropical Hawaiian Products Co. in Keaau.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Jan. 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service/celebration of life. Casual attire.

He is survived by children, Lorey (Sandy) Andres and Marc Andres, all of California, and Christina (Mike) Walz of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; sisters, Linda (Sam) Maballo and Carmen (Ruben) Quisisem of Keaau, and Aurora Andres of Honolulu; brother, Arnolfo Andres of Keaau; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pedro Libarios

Pedro R. Libarios, 75, of Ocean View, died Dec. 19, 2021 at his residence. Born March 1, 1946, in Honokaa, he was a retired iron worker with Associated Steel and member of Iron Workers Union 625.

Private services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by daughters, Tina (Barry) Tantog of Oahu, and Dustie Libarios and Jody Luta, both of Ocean View; sons, Robert (Gerrydale) Libarios of Oahu, Jason Libarios of Ocean View, Derek (Crystal)LIbarios of Kealakekua and Billy-Jack (Jenn) Libarios of Holualoa; sisters, Patricia Keawe of Captain Cook and Louise Ariel of Kealakekua; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Yoshito Arai

Yoshito Arai, 84, of Waimea, died Dec. 12, 2021 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 13, 1936, in Kalaoa, he was an automobile researcher and developer for Honda America and a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Odette Hing

Odette Hing, 77, of Kailua-Kona, died Dec. 19, 2021 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Dec. 15, 1944, in Papeete, Tahiti, she was a homemaker, a preschool teacher and security officer and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 22 for a drive-thru service at the LDS Church on Kalani Street.

She is survived by husband, Joseph Hing Sr., of Kailua-Kona; sons, Hudson (Heidi) Hing of Florida, Joseph (Jody) Hing Jr. and Nolan (Kauionalani) Hing, all of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Tanya (Chris) Fonoimoana of Honaunau; brothers, Claude (Victoire) Ly, and Bruno (Maruia) Liault; sisters, Olga Tachoires, Ida (Jacqui) Van Bastolaer and Josiane (Gregorio) Pordea, all of Papeete, Tahiti; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Darlyne Puou

Darlyne Mililani Puou, 71, of Captain Cook, died Dec. 25, 2021 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 11, 1950, in Honolulu, she was a retired cafeteria cook at Konawaena High School, an attendant at the South Kona Fruit Stand and a member of South Kona Assembly of God.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by sons, William (Lavainia) Puou III, of Honaunau, Rodney (Kathleen) Puou of Honalo, Michael Puou of Opihihale, Aaron (Pam) Puou of Ocean View and Jerred (Rene) Puou of Opihihale; daughter, Trisha Puou of Opihihale; hanai daughter, Serice Baniaga of Opihihale; brothers, Ronald (Cliff-Anne) Baniaga of Ocean View, and Hansel (Sheila-Ann) Baniaga and Michael(Margaret) Baniaga, all of Opihihale; sisters, Lillian Baniaga of Captain Cook, Rita (Earl)Carvalho of Laupahoehoe, Paulette (Stephen Tanaka) Baniaga of Honalo, Valerie (Malco Magana) Baniaga of Honaunau and Nancy (Loreto) Bautista of Opihihale; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
