Annie Meers

Annie Silva Meers, 92, of Laupahoehoe, died Dec. 31, 2022. She was born December 17, 1930 in Laupahoehoe.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Feb. 18 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Papaaloa. Burial at 12 p.m. at Homelani Memorial Park. She is survived by daughter, Beverly (Mike) Martinez; grandchildren, William (Naomi) Meers, Isaac (Alicia) Paglinawan, Renee (Lafo) Otake, Victoria (Reyze) Meers, Gretchen Paglinawan; in addition to 10 great-grandchildren. Solomon Whitney III,

Solomon Kolomona Whitney III, 65, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 7, 2023 at Nakamaru Hale. Born Aug. 23, 1957 in Hilo, he formerly worked as security for Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, was a former welder for numerous companies and was a member of The Way The Truth The Life Fellowship. A graveside committal service will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 18 at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire. He is survived by wife, Tinamarie Whitney; children, Alan (Chanelle) Dalao, Shereen (Gil) Dalao-Godoy, Valentina Godoy and Joann Kamohai; sister, Raechelle Whitney; aunty, Pastor Lillian Kaaumoana; uncle, William Waialee; 12 grandchildren. Leonora Shigemi

Leonora “Lee” Shigemi, 85, of Hilo died Jan. 11, 2023, in Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a full time preacher of the good news Of God’s kingdom with the Waiakea congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. A visitation will be held 9 to 11 a.m. on Feb. 18 with services at 11 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hilo. Arrangements by Homelani Cremation Services.
