KS-Hawaii roughs up Kealakehe in varsity softball

The Kamehameha Schools-Hawaii varsity softball notched a road victory of 13-2 on Tuesday at Kealakehe High School.

Senior No. 2 slot Napualaiku Ho tripled on an outfield error to get on base first for the Warriors in the first inning.

Classmate Kahiwaleinaniokealoha Ili followed up with a home run, sending Ho across home plate and putting two points on the board for KS-H.

The Waveriders responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first, which would prove to be their only points for the game.

The Warriors put up just one point in the second inning, but had a massive third inning with six runs — ending the game in the fifth inning with four more runs.

Junior Emily Hora earned the win on the mound for KS-H — pitching five innings, striking out 11 of 18 batters faced and allowing no walks.

Ili led the Warriors at the plate, going four for four with three runs, a RBI and a stolen base.

Junior Rhian Ogawa batted three for four with two RBI and two runs.

Hora, classmate Keanu Marie Huihui and sophomore Kaohinani Christensen each scored two runs — and junior Rebekah Sipinga scored one run.

KS-H will play its next game 11 a.m. Saturday at home against Keaau High School.
