Alan Alvarez, 64, of Pahoa, died Aug. 30 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a construction supervisor for a private construction company and a U.S. Army veteran. Joseph “Joe” Marquiz, 75, of North Kohala died July 1 in Hilo. Born in North Kohala, he was a retired mechanic at Mauna Lani Golf. Deborah “Deb” Mitsue Osaki, 64, of Hilo died Sept. 10 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was retired and a member of Kamana Elderly Program. Tomoyo “Joyce” Horihata, 97, of Hilo died Sept. 22 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker, Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. employee and member of Hilo Armory Badminton Club. Stanley Oshiro

Stanley “Tosh” Teruo Oshiro, 76, of Las Vegas, passed away Sept. 16. Born in Honoka‘a, he was a staff sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and worked 40 years with Hawaiian Airlines until his retirement. Celebration of life to be held 11 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19 at Waimea Community Center, 65-1260 Kawaihae Rd., Kamuela. He is survived by daughters, Leslie Hokoana (Evan), Patricia Santiago (Mike), and Pamela Vande Walle (George); son, PJ Oshiro (Chandy); brothers, Roy Oshiro (Emily), Paul Oshiro, and Eddie Oshiro; sister, Janice Maratas and seven grandchildren.

Robert Blas

Robert “Bobby” Lee Blas, 77, of Keaau, died on Sept. 20 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired construction worker and laborer, a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and member of the Koa Puna Motorcyle Club.
