Robert Correia

Robert Philip Correia, 56, of Waimea died Feb. 12, 2017, at home. Born Feb. 17, 1960, in Honolulu, he was a self employed handyman.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. March 18 at Imiola Church in Waimea with a 10 a.m. service.

He is survived by wife, Chris Correia of Waimea; mother, Dolores Correia of Pearl City, Oahu; son, Joe Boy Correia of Aiea, Oahu; daughters, Cortne (Leni) Correia-Tavoi, and Cydne Correia of Waimea; sisters, Candy (Phil) Carvalho of Kaneohe, Oahu, Anna (Mike) McCreary of San Antonio, Texas, Toni Correia of Pearl City, Oahu, Dolores Correia of San Antonio, Texas; and grandchildren, Tita and Dallas Correia of Waimea.

Charmaine Freitas

Charmaine Leilani Freitas, 37, of Hilo died Feb. 8, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 15, 1979, in Hilo, she was a school bus driver for Robert’s Hawaii and a member and board of director of Hope DIA-mend Ministries in Naalehu.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. March 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel with a 10 a.m. celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope DIA-mend Ministries.

She is survived by mother, Henri Freitas of Hilo; father, Robert Allen Freitas Sr. of Hilo; brother, Robert Freitas of Oahu; sister, Jennifer Pattioay of Hilo; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rudy Hirota

Rudy Tsutomu Hirota, 87, of Hilo died Feb. 25, 2017, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Mountain View, he was a retired Realtor.

Visitation will take place from 4-5 p.m. March 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel with a 5 p.m. celebration of his life. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Ann Hirota of Hilo; daughters, Avis (Richard) Nagano, Annette (Melvin) Sugimoto, all of Hilo, Lorelei Hirota of Pahoa; son, Don (Sharon) Hirota of Hilo; sisters, May Hasegawa of Honolulu, Jane (Kenneth) Wong of Pearl City, Oahu; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Alaina De Havilland

Alaina Colleen De Havilland, 65, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 11, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 16, 1951, in London, she was a painter and artist.

An aloha ‘oe ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. March 19, at 78-133 Ehukai St. in Kailua-Kona.

She is survived by companion, Geerling Goosen of Kailua-Kona; son, Jesse (Denise) Gibbon of Honolulu; brother, Jeromie Mulligan of Belgium; one granddaughter; stepson, Ceasar Goosen of Los Angeles.

Emi Ueda

Emi Emiko Ueda, 80, of Kealakekua died Feb. 22, 2017, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 2, 1937, in Honalo, she retired as county office assistant for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farmer’s Home Administration. She was a charter member of The Kona Daifukuji Orchid Club, a member of the Kona Senior and P&R Bowling leagues, the Kona Hongwanji Mission, the Kona Hongwanji Mission BWA, Kona Japanese Civic Club, Kumamoto Kenjinkai and the Akitsu Kumiai.

Visitation will be held at 3 p.m. March 19 at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua with a 4 p.m. memorial service. The family requests casual attire and flowers be omitted.

She is survived by husband, Edwin Ueda of Kealakekua; sons, Lester (Barbara) Ueda of Hilo, Glenn (Mary Ann) Ueda of Lynnwood, Wash. Calvin (Judy) Ueda of Las Vegas, Jason Ueda of Hilo; brothers, Tadashi (Sadako) Kaneko of Honolulu, Tetsuo (Kay) Kaneko of Keopu, Yoshiyuki (Emiko) Kaneko of Kealakekua, and Herbert (Vivian) Kaneko of Honolulu; sisters, Mitsue Sakamoto of Honolulu, Kimiko Sato of California, and Asako Kajioka of Honolulu; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Alice Oshita

Alice Sakuyo Oshita, 85, of Hilo died March 2, 2017, at her home. Born in Honolulu, she was retired from the former Hawaii Island Glass Inc. and a member of Puna Hongwanji Mission and AJA Bowling Club.

Private services were held.

She is survived by husband, Kenji Oshita of Hilo; sisters, Harriet Yamasaki of Pearl City, Oahu, and Lillian Tom of California; numerous nieces and nephews.
