Scott Sadanaga
Scott Hideo Sadanaga, 54, of Papaikou, died April 16, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the rental sales representative for Hawthorne Pacific Corp. (Caterpillar) and was involved with Advanced Kempo Karate Systems, ranching, and hot-rodding.
Friends may call for a service at 4:30 p.m. on June 2 at Taishoji Soto Mission, 275 Kinoole St., in Hilo. They may also call for a celebration of life June 3 at Puuanahulu Community Arena, 71-1409 Mamalahoa Highway in North Kona; formal program at 9 a.m. followed by activities until 3 p.m.
He is survived by several aunties and numerous cousins.

Edward McCarron
Edward “Eddie” Arthur McCarron, 56, of Kailua-Kona, died May 19, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 15, 1961, in Covina, California, he was a foreman for Maryl Construction Hawaii, member of Jackie Rey’s senior softball league, a motorcyclist and former member of numerous motorcycle clubs.
A celebration of life will be held 6 p.m. June 5 at Living Stones Church lawn on Alii Drive.
He is survived by wife, Christine McCarron of Kailua-Kona; sons, Brandon McCarron, Christopher McCarron; brother, Robert McCarron; sisters, Deborah McCarron, Paula McCarron all of California; hanai sister, Colette Walton of Kailua-Kona; two grandchildren; a nephews; and numerous friends.

Benedict Shon Sr.
Benedict “Ben” Shon Sr., 87, of Hilo, died May 24, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Opihihale, South Kona, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for Andrade Services and a heavy equipment operator for the former Theo H. Davies and Hamakua Sugar Co., and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and a former member of the Portuguese Cultural Club.
Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. on June 5 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo; wake service at 7. Visitation continues 8:30-9:30 a.m. on June 6 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. The family requests casual attire.
He is survived by, son, Benedict Shon Jr. of Pepeekeo; daughters, Paulette Nagata of Honokaa, Darlene (Jerome) Varize of Hawaiian Beaches, Terry (Francis) Tajon of Hilo, Bernalyn (Benjamin) Yee of Keaau, Laurene (Dallas) Estabilio of Hilo and Wendy Pappas of Oahu; step-daughters, Rosemary (Hendricks) DeMello of San Jose, California, and Kathleen (Richard) Silva of Keaau; half-sister, Mary (Faustino) Carbaloc of Keaau; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nancy Stegehuis
Nancy Moana Stegehuis, 61, of Kailua-Kona, died March 24, 2018, in Anchorage, Alaska. She was born May 25, 1956, in Honolulu.
A celebration of life was held April 15 in Anchorage, Alaska. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Kona.
She is survived by mother, Nancy Auga; sisters, Diana (Mahealani) Pai and Jan Stegehuis of Kailua-Kona; sister Colleen Figueroa of Vancouver, Washington; companion, Ruth Oliver; hanai brother George (Keoki) Cipriano and many “Nana” keiki.
Arleen Maeda
Arleen Amy Maeda, 73, of Hilo, died May 2, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kohala, she was a retired Central Pacific Bank teller and had previously worked at Bank of Hawaii.
Private services were held.
She is survived by daughter, Terri Aiwohi of Hilo; son, Jeffrey Rego of Honolulu; mother, Matsue Maeda of Kohala; brother, Michael (Patty) Maeda of Honolulu; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a nephew.
