KAILUA-KONA — Police have arrested and charged robbery suspect Kyle Arellano, 22, with several offenses, the department said Saturday.

He is charged with second-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree theft, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, unauthorized entry to a motor vehicle, fourth-degree theft and two counts of discharge of sureties.

Arellano’s bail was set at $49,050, according to police.

The man is accused of striking and taking a bag from 71-year-old Rev. Masaaki Miyazaki near the Kona Koyasan Daishiji Mission in Holualoa on Wednesday. The victim, police said, sustained minor injuries while being struck and falling during the incident.

Police then on Thursday responded to reports of “several burglaries, vehicle entry and theft” in the area of Honokohau Industrial. Arellano was taken into custody without incident after being on the lam Friday.
