Dennis De Motta

Dennis Wayne De Motta Sr., 64, of Hilo, died March 30 at his home. Born Aug. 22, 1947, in Pepeekeo, he was a retired mechanic for the Hawaii County Public Works Division, previously a mechanic for Big Island Toyota and utility man for Hawaii Junk, Army Vietnam War veteran and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and United Public Workers.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. April 10 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. April 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at 11:30 a.m. at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Martina De Motta, of Hilo; sons, Scot De Motta, of Honolulu, Marc (Melissa) De Motta, of Dubuque, Ill., Dennis (Amy) De Motta Jr., of Webb City, Mo., Erik (Teresa) De Motta, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; brother, Robert De Motta Sr., of Hilo; sister, Betty Lou De Sa, of Pepeekeo; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Kiyoko Ishikane

Kiyoko “Kay” Ishikane, 89, of Hilo, died April 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 24, 1922, in Paauilo, she was a retired sale clerk for the former Western Auto Store in Hilo and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin (Kyodan, Fujinkai, and Hoyukai), Nohea Kumiai and Uta No Kai Hilo Karaoke Club.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. April 12 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 3 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by husband, Yoshio Ishikane, of Hilo; sons, Jerry (Doris) Ishikane and Allan Ishikane, both of Honolulu, Harvey (Karen) Ishikane, of Hilo; daughters, Karen (Kenneth) Suga, Lynn (Layne) Yoshida and Nora (Grant) Yoshida, all of Hilo; brothers, Charles (Mildred) Nakamura, of Kaneohe, Oahu, Kiyoshi (Chizuko) Nakamura, of Captain Cook; sister, Haruko (Naoto) Mashiba, of Moanalua, Oahu; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; an aunt; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Florentino Acacio

Florentino Miguel Acacio, 90, of Kapaau, died March 28 at his residence. Born May 21, 1921, in Vintar, Philippines, he was a retired laborer for Kohala Sugar Plantation, a retired grounds maintenance man at Kona Village Resort and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. April 13 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi for an 11 a.m. Mass. Burial follows in Sacred Heart Church cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.
