Fitness center opening in Waimea
Lealea Fitness will hold its grand opening at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at its center in Waimea. There will be live demonstrations of the classes offered at the center.
The center is owned and run by Tamara Pinto, Brittany Klarin, Bianca Brennan and Sheila Fernandez-Kinzer, a group of friends who all share the same passion for health and wellness. All hold nationally recognized certifications as fitness professionals, as well as a variety of additional trainings specific to certain classes and areas of expertise.
A variety of fitness and health-related classes and personal/group trainings are held daily. Class cards are available for purchase at the center.

Kwon tapped for director of sales post
Waynette Kwon has been appointed the Big Island Visitors Bureau’s new director of sales.
Kwon, who most recently served as director of the Lanai Visitors Bureau since 2002, will be based in the bureau’s Waimea office and will travel frequently, promoting the appeal of Hawaii Island as a destination to travel agents, wholesalers and consumers. She will direct the leisure sales activities for the U.S. mainland and Canada, and assist Senior Director of Sales Debbie Hogan with conventions, meetings and incentive opportunities, as well as nurture markets in Europe, Asia and Oceania. Kwon, who was born and raised in Kona, is a graduate of Konawaena High School and Kapiolani Community College.
Transair adds daytime cargo flights
Transair on Wednesday launched its new daytime air cargo flights operating between Honolulu, Kahului, Maui and Kona. Established in 1982, Transair is one of Hawaii’s largest interisland air cargo companies, with a large fleet of Bombardier aircrafts. Transair also operates overnight evening air cargo flights to each of the major Hawaiian Islands.
The new service will be available Monday through Friday. It will begin in Honolulu with departures to Kahului, Maui, continuing on to Kona and returning to Honolulu. Transair’s regular air cargo rates will apply.

HMSA going paperless on reports to members
The Hawaii Medical Service Association is taking a big step toward going paperless. Starting Aug. 1, routine explanation of benefit forms, known as report to members, will no longer be mailed to most members. The reports will be accessed through a “My Account” on hmsa.com.
HMSA mails approximately 3.5 million reports annually. Going green will save 45,000 pounds of paper and more than $1 million each year. Additionally, storing this information online increases access for members, since they can download, share or print the reports from anywhere they have an Internet connection.
To take advantage of this new service and enroll in HMSA’s “My Account,” go to hmsa.com, click on register under “My Account Login,” and fill in the appropriate information. “My Account” provides access to information about benefits and health plan coverage and allows access to medical and drug claims statements.
