Life Care Center of Kona earns accreditation
By demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commis-sion’s national standards for health care quality and safety, Life Care Center of Kona has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval.
“We sought accreditation for our organization because we want to demonstrate our commitment to the resident’s safety and quality care,” said Ray Marks, executive director. “We view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as another step toward achieving excellence.”
“Accreditation standards exceed federal and state requirement,” said Dale S. Johnson, executive director of long term care accreditation, the Joint Commission. “Furthermore, because this is a voluntary program, accreditation represents Life Care Center of Kona’s decision to be recognized for its efforts to provide quality care.”
“By achieving accreditation, Life Care Center of Kona has joined a select group of Joint Commission long term care organizations,” Johnson said. “Only about 950 long term care organizations have this accreditation nationwide.”

Hawaiian Airlines acquiring 2 new Airbus
Hawaiian Airlines will acquire two new wide-body Airbus A330-200 aircraft in addition to an agreement to buy up to 24 Airbus planes that the company announced earlier this year.
The two A330s will be leased from AWAS, an aircraft leasing company based in Dublin, Ireland, and are scheduled to join Hawaiian’s fleet in the first and second quarters of 2011, respectively.
