A 35-year-old Ocean View man faces felony assault charges stemming from a Monday evening stabbing outside a Ka’u convenience store.
Biti Biti Jr. was charged Wednesday afternoon with second-degree assault, driving under the influence of an intoxicant and driving without a license, according to the Hawaii Police Department. He remains held on $6,500 bail pending an initial court appearance slated for today.
The charges stem from a Monday evening stabbing outside an Ocean View Town Center convenience store in which police report Biti stabbed a 44-year-old Ocean View man in the ribs and neck. The victim had been shopping with his wife, who was not injured in the incident, according to police.
Biti, who was identified as an acquaintance of the victim, reportedly fled in a pickup truck. Within an hour, after receiving information from police dispatch, officers located and arrested Biti at a Hawaiian Ocean View Estates home, according to police.
The victim was transported to Kona Community Hospital in stable condition, treated for his injuries and released on Wednesday, according to police.
