The Cowgirls trailed 5-1 after three innings at Kamehameha Park in Kapaau on Saturday, but they rallied behind the bat of senior Jovi Antonio. Antonio cleared the bases in the fourth inning with a three-run single to trim the lead to 5-4, and Ashlyn van Zandt singled home Antonio with the tying run.
Division II Kohala improved to 3-2 in Big Island Interscholastic Federation play, and the Division I Waveriders fell to 3-2. Tiani Luga had a solo home run in the first inning for the Cowgirls, and she was the only Kohala player with multiple hits. She also had a single.
Chyler Imai picked up the win, allowing only three hits and three walks over seven innings. She struck out seven.
Kealakehe’s Kelina Palmer-Kahananui suffered the loss. She gave up seven hits and three walks over six innings and struck out five. She also had a triple in the Waveriders’ four-run second inning. No one paired hits for Kealakehe, but Brooke Rivera had an RBI single.

Weather woes
All games involving East Hawaii teams were rained out Saturday and rescheduled for Monday. Keaau will travel to Ka‘u, and Pahoa will visit Waiakea at 1 p.m. Hilo will travel to play Kamehameha-Hawaii at 3 p.m.
