James “Kimo” Polani Ahu, 71, of Moaula (Lower), Ka‘u, died May 6 at his home. Born July 29, 1940, in Pahala, he was a retired supervisor for the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation and member of Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. June 2 at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by daughters, Kimela Ahu, Dallas (Pocho) Olivera, Laurie Mahelona, Shannon (Rollen) Alcoran, Kaleo (Chris) Alexander; son, Iokepa Ahu; brother, Robert Ahu Jr.; sister, Lorraine Pestano; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
