Shigeru “Shige” “Roy” Shimizu, 90, of Hilo, died Sept. 12, 2012 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born April 22, 1922, in Mountain View, he was retired from Hawaii Sugar Planters Association, a commercial fisherman on the former Skipjack aku boat and a member of Taishoji Soto Mission and Piihonua Community Association.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
He is survived by wife, Mieko Shimizu, of Hilo; son, Calvin Shimizu, of Hilo; daughters, Audrey Shimizu, Eloise (David) Kuniyoshi, Bessie (Paul Nagamine) Shimizu, all of Hilo; brother, Kiyoshi (Betty) Shimizu, of Colorado; sisters, Stella Sasabe, of Hilo, Kikue Furukawa, of Glenwood; two grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
