George Iwao Arai, 84, of Hilo died Sept. 24 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Papaikou, he worked at the former Dole Cannery on Oahu, former Paramount Grill and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Private services were held. The family requests no flowers and no koden (monetary gifts).
He is survived by sisters, Tsuruko Daimaru of Hilo, Evelyn (Hiroshi) Inouye of Paukaa; brother, Herbert (Setsuko) Arai of Kaneohe; sister-in-law, Susan Arai of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.
